A School of Sanctuary (SoS) is a school that is ‘committed to being a safe and welcoming place for all students and their families. It is a school that helps its students, staff and wider community understand what it means to be seeking sanctuary and to extend a welcome to everyone as equal, valued members of the school community. It is a school that is proud to be a place of safety and inclusion for all.’
There are three principles to becoming a School of Sanctuary:
Childwall Abbey School is proud to be aspiring to continue to hold the School of Sanctuary Chartermark in 2022-23. Miss Groves is leading the school community through the challenge to support our school Mission Statement and Code of Conduct in this special way.
We are pleased to announce that we have been accredited as a School of Sanctuary for another three years (until 2026). Miss Groves presented how School of Sanctuary is adopted by Childwall Abbey and shared this with a number of people across the Liverpool community including other schools and the EMTAS team. We look forward to attending the awards event in the Autumn Term. Thank you to our pupils, staff and wider school community for their help and support in getting this accreditation.
