  • School closures April/May 2023

    Fri 28 Apr 2023

Monday 1st May 2023 is a national Bank Holiday. C.A.S. is closed to all pupils.

Due to industrial action by teachers in the N.E.U. on Tuesday 2nd May 2023, C.A.S. will be closed to pupils except those in Year 11, Year 13 and Year 14 forms who will be on site for supported revision sessions. Pupils who usually attend college, work placements or supported internships on those days will not be affected. (Please note that this will be subject to change if industrial action is called off, in which case parents/carers will be informed by text).

Thursday 4th May 2023 is a staff INSET day. C.A.S. is closed to all pupils.

Monday 8th May 2023 is an additional national Bank Holiday in recognition of the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. C.A.S. is closed to all pupils.

  • School closure on 27th April & 2nd May 2023

    Thu 27 Apr 2023

Due to industrial action by teachers in the N.E.U., taking place on 27th April & 2nd May 2023, our risk assessment shows that it will not be safe to open the school to all pupils on that day. We will have insufficient numbers of staff to provide adequately for pupil safety and meet their complex needs. By agreement with NEU colleagues, to minimise disruption to exam and coursework preparation, we will be able to have Year 11 and Year 13 forms on site for supported revision sessions on those days. Pupils in Year 9, 10, 11 or Sixth-form who usually attend college, work placements or supported internships on those days will not be affected. Those arrangements will go ahead as normal.

Childwall Abbey School will close to all students except Year 11 and 13 pupils on 27th April & 2nd May 2023

(Please note that this will be subject to change if industrial action is called off, in which case parents/carers will be informed by text)

Thank you for your understanding at this challenging time.

  • School closure on 28th February 2023

    Fri 24 Feb 2023

Due to industrial action by teachers in the N.E.U., taking place on 28th February 2023, our risk assessment shows that it will not be safe to open the school to pupils on that day. We will have insufficient numbers of staff to provide adequately for pupil safety and meet their complex needs.

Childwall Abbey School will close to all students on 28th February 2023.

(Please note that this will subject to change if industrial action is called off, in which case parents/carers will be informed by text)

Future strike action is scheduled for 15th March and 16th March 2023. Parents and carers may wish to put plans in place for alternative childcare on these dates.

Thank you for your understanding at this challenging time.

  • School closure on 1st February 2023

    Mon 30 Jan 2023

In light of the industrial action by teachers in the N.E.U., taking place on Wednesday 1st February 2023, our risk assessment shows that it will not be safe to open the school to pupils on that day. We will have insufficient numbers of staff to provide adequately for pupil safety and meet their complex needs.

Childwall Abbey School will close to all students on Wednesday 1 February 2023.

As you are aware, future strike action is also scheduled for 28th February, 15th March and 16th March 2023. Based on our current situation, parents and carers may wish to put plans in place for alternative childcare on these dates.

The right to strike is a fundamental British liberty. The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the trade unions and the government. We understand this decision has not been taken lightly.

At C.A.S. we continue to treat each other with respect and courtesy. Thank you for your understanding at this challenging time.
