• Kingswood Colomendy Residential

  Our Key stage 4 and 5 pupils are off to Kingswood Colomendy, Loggerheads, near Mold, from Monday 24th June to Friday 28th June. They are taking part in an amazing residential experience. This will contribute to their Duke of Edinburgh Award accreditation. More importantly, the fun and challenging activities, led by Kingswood’s experienced staff, will encourage all our pupils to develop their resilience, teamwork and social skills in a beautiful countryside setting.

   

  Well done to everyone for rising to this challenge and many thanks to the C.A.S. staff team who are supporting our pupils.

• 'Eat to Meet' for May half-term!

  The May Half Term Eat-to-Meet programme starts on Monday 27^th May and there are lots of great activities happening over the school holidays.  Children and young people, from reception to age 16, who are eligible for benefits related free school meals, will be able to access hundreds of activities throughout the half term holidays including specific provision available for children with SEND or additional needs, at no cost.

  This year's Children’s Mental Health Week theme is 'My Voice Matters'

  During Children’s Mental Health Week we want all children and young people, whoever they are, and wherever they are in the world, to be able to say – and believe - “My Voice Matters”.

  My Voice Matters is about empowering children and young people by providing them with the tools they need to express themselves.

  When we feel empowered, this can have a positive impact on our wellbeing. Children and young people who feel that their voices are heard and can make a difference have a greater sense of community and self-esteem. This year, we want children of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to be empowered to work together to create a positive change for their mental health and wellbeing.

  SEN transport have informed schools that transport will be running as normal from tomorrow (18/01/2024). School is open to pupils. Thank you.

• Polite reminders for parents and carers

  We ask parents and carers to work with school, to maintain a safe and appropriate learning environment for all our pupils:

  • Under no circumstances may pupils bring cigarettes, vapes, alcohol or any other drug on to school premises. Using, sharing or selling these items on school site, school trips or on transport is illegal and will result in a fixed term exclusion. Pupils will also be reported to the school Governing Body as per C.A.S. Drugs Policy. (on website) Please note - It is illegal for any adult to purchase these items for an under age child. (This is a health and safety matter and non-negotiable)
  • Pupils are not allowed to use mobile phones in school. All phones must be handed in at the start of the day to be kept securely until home time. Pupils who do not wish to hand in their phone are asked to leave them at home. (This is a Safeguarding matter and is non-negotiable.)
  • All C.A.S. pupils are required to wear school uniform every day. Pupils must bring their PE kit on days when PE is on their timetable and change as appropriate. Privacy arrangements can be made if a pupil needs them for personal reasons. * (Pupils in Years 7 and 8 must come to school wearing appropriate clothing for outdoor activities on their Forest Schools day only).
  • Full attendance at school is essential for learning and progress. This is the expectation for all pupils unless they are unwell or attending an appointment. Parents/Carers are asked to inform school in advance of any appointments and to contact on the first day of any illness absence as per C.A.S. Attendance Policy.
  • We encourage all parents and carers to be vigilant regarding their child’s access to online material and their use of phones, tablets and other devices with internet connectivity. (our website parents page has Useful Links to support you)
  • Pupils are allowed to bring a bottle of water (not juice or fizzy drinks) for their personal use only. This must be managed sensibly and not shared with anyone else. In hot weather, please ensure that your child has a hat and sunscreen for their protection, if you feel that is needed. (All areas of C.A.S. have drinking water available throughout the day.)

  Welcome back to school everyone. We hope you have all enjoyed a very happy holiday and some relaxing family time. We’re ready for lots more learning in school and outdoors in our local community. As always, we expect full attendance and thank parents and carers for their support. We are so lucky to have such a lovely environment to enjoy and learn in. Please remember to bring a warm waterproof coat and sensible footwear to school each day during these cold months.

• Christmas Jumper Day!

  On Friday 8th December 2023, C.A.S. is having a Christmas Jumper Day to raise funds for Save the Children’s work, in Britain and abroad. We are suggesting a £1 donation if you choose to wear a Christmas jumper instead of your Uniform jumper, cardigan or sweatshirt. Pupils who prefer to wear full uniform as usual may do so and can still make a donation if they wish. Thank you.
